Right to Buy
Created in the Housing Act 1980, Right to Buy gave council tenants the right to own their home with discounts reflecting rent paid. It was extended in England under the Housing and Planning Act 2016 to cover housing association tenants but is set to be abolished in Scotland and Wales.
