At the end of 2016, 15 members of GreenSquare staff embarked on a 10 mile walk from the company’s office on Barns Road in Cowley, which took them into Iffley, through Northway and Headington and back again, as part of the company’s Big 150 Walk, in celebration of its 150th anniversary.

GreenSquare pledged to donate £5 to OxHoP for every mile walked per person – totalling £750. Howard Toplis, GreenSquare’s chief executive, said: “Everyone really enjoyed taking part in the Big 150 Walk and were happy to be able to support a local charity at the same time.

“We’re pleased to donate £750 to OxHoP, whose vital work providing life-changing services for homeless people in Oxford, including emergency and supported accommodation, is a valued and essential resource for the city.”

OxHoP provides a range of services for homeless, and recently homeless people. The charity helps people to tackle the issues that have led to them becoming homeless, build their confidence and develop new skills to help them put in place plans to change their lives.

In 2016, GreenSquare celebrated its 150th anniversary, having been founded in 1866. As part of its celebrations, members of staff across the counties it operates in – Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire – embarked on three different walks, for three different homelessness charities, with participants of each cumulatively walking 150 miles.

Now GreenSquare owns and manages nearly 12,000 properties across Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. As well as providing homes for those on low incomes and most at need – something which has been at the heart of GreenSquare’s purpose since its foundation – it also develops a range of new homes  for rent, shared ownership, and sale, and provide housing management, care and support, and commercial property services.
