Location: Leicester

Salary: £33,226 per annum

Hours:            35 hours per week

We currently have an opportunity for an Area Surveyor to join our dedicated team in Leicester and we really want to hear from you if you:


Are able to demonstrate that you are customer focused with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships;


Can demonstrate that you can work with minimum supervision; planning and prioritising your own workload and the workload of others;


Are able to work on your own initiative whilst maintaining a team ethos.


Within this role you will be responsible for inspecting housing stock and building works with a view to preparing specifications and compiling tender / contract documentation to delivery repair and void works; working within authorised budgets and to agreed quality standards, ensuring contractors and suppliers perform to specification and contractual terms. You will also be expected to manage insurance claims related to properties, limit risk to the organisation through working knowledge of legislation risk management and specify, authorise and manage works to completion, carrying out pre and post inspections.


The successful candidate will be a strong team player who puts customers first, will be qualified to a HNC standard (or equivalent) as a minimum and will have a positive ‘can do’ attitude. You will be highly organised with a passion for service excellence and continuous improvement and will be a strong communicator who is confident when liaising with people at all levels. Being capable of working to deadlines is essential as is having knowledge of housing maintenance, repair specifications, diagnosing defects and remedial works. You will ideally also have strong knowledge of social housing management and of housing / property management systems (Northgate or similar). You must have a valid driving licence and daily access to a car for business use.

For this role you will be expected to travel.  You will be able to claim for all travel expenses, fuel or public transport, via our online expenses system and these payments will appear as expenses on your monthly payslip’

The role of Area Surveyor requires the successful candidate to complete a basic DBS check. A basic DBS check will show any unspent convictions.

So why do we need to know this information? An Area Surveyor will be required to visit / support PA Housing residents in their own homes on a regular basis. Therefore we have a duty to our residents to ensure that we have taken precautions regarding who will be visiting them and representing PA Housing.


Having unspent convictions will not necessarily preclude you from being recruited into the role; if you are potentially the successful candidate, we will complete a risk assessment with you to understand the circumstances around your conviction, how relevant they are to the post you have applied for and  what remedial action , if any, have you have taken since your conviction. Suitable references will also need to be obtained prior to commencement of employment.
