A round-up of some of the best tweets from the inaugural 24housing Diversity in Housing conference, with sessions ranging from LGBT inclusion to refugee integration.

Hundreds of delegates gathered for a day of diversity as 24housing hosted Diversity in Housing conference at Villa Park in Birmingham.

The day started with a keynote from Tom Taylor, Media Manager at Kick It Out:

It was great to hear from a representative that is outside the sector, with Kick It Out having 25 years’ experience of tackling diversity and equality in football.

We then had our Empowering Women in Housing session, chaired by CIH president Alison Inman, with sessions from Sinead Butters, Molly Bishop, Gainor Keeton, Nicola Dibb & Kirsty Thompson.

After Women in Housing, we had John Giesen to chair the session looking at LGBT inclusion, with speakers including Alex Gwynne of Stonewall, Melanie Holloway of Metropolitan, Tina Wathern of Stonewall Housing, John Glenton of Riverside and Cam Kinsella of Merlin Housing.

After lunch, we heard from Habinteg, TaiPawb, Angela Cavill-Burch and Community Sponsors Homes on accessible homes and the importance of increasing supply.

After a short break, we welcomed Tom Murtha, who later who the Lifetime Achievement Award, to chair of Empowering BME individuals and community session. Speaking in this session was Darwin Bernardo, Ali Akbor of Unity Homes, Steve Douglas of Altair, Raj Patel of Housing Diversity Network and GreenPark’s Cordelia Ediae.

After a refreshment break, we asked Fuad Mahamed of ACH to step up and chair the final session of the day on refugee integration, with sessions from Ashley Horsey of Commonweal, Cedric Boston of Arhag, Anne McLoughlin of Innisfree and Karen Cowan of Ongo Homes.
