Kit Malthouse is to answer questions on the effectiveness of the current land value capture.
As part of the Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee (HCLG) inquiry into the topic, he will be asked about the government’s current approach.
The inquiry is to look at if there are new and better ways in which land value can be captured.
It will also look at the advantages and disadvantages of alternative land value capture methods and what can be learnt from previous systems.
The Committee has previously quizzed academics and experts, before hearing from organisations with experience of different methods of capturing increases in the value of land.
It comes just a few days after an IPPR report said government should limit the windfall gains of landowners by freezing the value of plots newly designated for housing.
