Michelle Reid is leaving Cynon Taf to be chief executive of Merthyr Valleys Homes (MVH) following the retirement of Mike Owen.
Reid brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in housing and supported services to Wales’ first tenant and employee mutual.
“It’s a huge honour to be given the opportunity to take this fantastic mutual organisation into the next stage of its journey, working in partnership with the members, tenants, staff and partners, and supported by an outstanding senior management team,” Reid said.
“I will be sad to leave my brilliant colleagues and volunteers at the Cynon Taf Group. I’m looking forward to supporting the MVH Board and Democratic Body to sustain and build upon the successes already achieved, and to look to the future with confidence,” she said.
The recruitment process was led by Board and the Democratic Body, with all members being invited to view and score on the presentation element of the interview process.
Nicola Evans, Chair of Merthyr Valleys Homes, said “Michelle’s values and commitment to our mutual way of working resonates strongly with what we are all about at Merthyr Valleys Homes.
“I’m looking forward to working with her to continue the excellent work that our mutual has already achieved.”
Thanking Owen for his “dedication, vision and support”, Natalie Warner, Chair of the Democratic Body, said: “We look forward to working with Michelle in continuing to develop a strong future for our members and our communities.”
