The changes will be brought in immediately and will include the conversion of all existing fixed-term tenancies.

Network Homes is the latest association to offer lifetime tenancies for all new tenants – and the conversion of all existing fixed-term tenancies.

The changes will be brought in immediately, with every new tenant of a social or affordable rent home given an assured tenancy that lasts as long as they want it.

“For many residents, coming up to the end of their tenancy was a worrying and uncertain time,” said chief executive Helen Evans.

“I’m pleased Network Homes can now offer its tenants future peace of mind and certainty their home will remain theirs for as long as they need it.”

Network has nearly 2,000 existing fixed-term tenants, which it plans to convert to lifetime tenancies as soon as possible, either through a phased approach, or when their existing agreement comes up for renewal.

Network has offered five-year fixed-term tenancies since 2011 to some new tenants as a way to ensure its homes go those most in need. But just 3% of tenants left after their term.
