A merger between Acron Housing and Bolton at Home has been announced, set to see the delivery of 1,400 affordable homes across the North West by 2023.
The move is said to have been given final Board approval by both organisations, following a period of consultation with tenants and other stakeholders.
Bolton at Home manages over 18,000 homes across the borough, investing £19m annually into refurbishing existing housing stock and regeneration programmes, with Arcon currently managing 1,200 homes across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, High Peak and Fylde.
Bernard Gallagher, CEO of Arcon Housing Group, said: “Our coming together gives both organisations additional expertise and resources to help our communities and will deliver new affordable homes.
“Together, we can introduce these new homes quicker than we would be able to individually. It’s a partnership that will bring many mutual benefits to our customers.”
Jon Lord, Group CEO of Bolton at Home, added: “This partnership makes both organisations even stronger, which will have many benefits for our tenants.
“We’d already been working closely with Arcon as part of the Greater Manchester Housing Providers group.
“It has knowledge and skills that complement our own, including a wealth of development expertise.
“This will be invaluable to our joint ambitions to build the affordable homes the region so urgently needs.”
