NHF-backed board diversity programme Raising Roofs has topped out its 2019 launch with a new partner/sponsor.

Top property advisors JLL will be joining the NHF and Winckworth Sherwood as a partner and sponsor of Raising Roofs, a programme for aspiring housing leaders who want to prepare themselves to join the board of a social landlord, starting next January.

Richard Petty, lead director of the JLL Residential Advisory team and former Chair of Richmond Housing Partnership will be one of the expert facilitators, leading a session on ethical behaviour for board members.

“Our significant experience in affordable housing means that we give sound, well-informed insights to make sure clients have the confidence to make the right decisions. With our partnership with Raising Roofs we’re excited to play a role in shaping and preparing the housing leaders of tomorrow,” he said.

Other housing leaders who will be facilitating the programme include Ann Santry CBE, former Chief Executive of Sovereign, Sheron Carter, Chief Executive of Habinteg and Andrew Murray, lead partner for social housing.

Raising Roofs will be holding sessions at venues across the country including London, Manchester and Birmingham.

Participants will learn together about a range of subjects including what it means to be a board member, different leadership styles, getting messages right and how boards deal with growth and manage risk.

They will be able to observe board meetings in other housing associations and be mentored by a senior executive in their own organisation.

David Levenson, Co-Founder, Raising Roofs, said: “We are delighted that JLL has agreed to be a sponsor for Raising Roofs.

“The programme’s aims are to support tomorrow’s housing leaders and bring forward a more diverse group of candidates for board positions and it is gratifying to receive the endorsement of one of the leading property advisors to the social housing sector.”
