The hunt is on to find the 10th Young Leader, with nominations now open for the sector to put their inspiring talent forwards.

As always, we are looking for nominations from all over the sector and have seen the calibre of those entering increasing year on year.

We are seeing a rise in responsibility and trust of those under 30 working in the sector, which shows great promise for the future.

This year we are looking for fresh ideas for the sector and leadership that comes from different, non-traditional perspectives.

We are calling on organisations to put forward individuals who are willing to disrupt or make a difference to the sector with a well thought out idea.

The final deadline for nominations is 6th March, where a joint 24housing and National Housing Federation panel will shortlist the entries down to 20.

From there, the 20 names will go head to head in an online vote to make the semi-final.

This year, the semi-final will be held at the Young Leaders Experience 2020 before a grand final at the National Housing Federation Summit in October.

Kate Henderson, Chief Executive at the National Housing Federation, quote: “I am delighted to be supporting the Young Leaders Award in 2020, and the National Housing Federation is looking forward to hosting the grand final of the competition at our National Housing Summit in the Autumn.

“Previous winners of this exciting award have shown how they can come up with great ideas which help the housing sector deliver its best offer for tenants.

“This year, the award will celebrate fresh ideas for the housing sector, and how future leaders must use innovative thinking to disrupt the way things have been traditionally done. We are a diverse sector, and this is a great chance to recognise the broad range of talent we have in our organisations.

“We all know someone who contributes to their housing association, or to our sector, but who doesn’t sit in a senior management role. This award is for them.”

Previous winners have gone onto become pivotal players in the sector and their organisation, showing drive and determination to enact positive change.
