Accent Housing staff have been out and about in Bradford this Christmas delivering food and toy parcels to vulnerable residents in need.
The food parcels were made up from Accent’s own foodbank, while the toy parcels came from staff donations.
Accent’s Tenancy Sustainability Manager Jane McKalroy (pictured right) said: “Many of our residents have been affected by welfare reforms this year, and we are seeing more and more who just don’t have enough money to make a Christmas for themselves and their families. It is very sad. We always try to support those of our customers who are less fortunate at Christmas, and this year we decided on food and toy parcels so they can at least have some enjoyment over the festive season. The food parcels were made up from our own foodbank, which our staff have generously supported. The idea for toy parcels also came from staff.”
“The generosity of Accent staff has been truly amazing. There were so many toy donations that, as well as helping our own residents, we were able to donate some to Horton Housing’s project for homeless families in Manningham. We also took a donation of men’s winter warmers and toiletries. Horton staff were very grateful and 16 children in the project will now get something for Christmas. All our toy donations have now been safely passed to Santa for Christmas delivery!
