Local housing association Chelmer Housing Partnership (CHP) have donated their biggest collection to Chelmsford Foodbank to help their local community during the festive season. Based in Chelmsford, the organisation wanted to give something back over the Christmas period and worked together to collect a range of items, including food, household and bathroom products.
Hannah Houghton, Income Co-ordinator and Annabelle Gardiner, Communications Apprentice from the organisation planned the collection over a period of four weeks, asking their colleagues to donate different items each week.
Hannah was delighted with the result. “As an organisation, we care greatly about our customers and the local community and feel it is important to help people in crisis. From experience, we know Christmas can be a worrying time for people. With demand on foodbanks increasing, we felt it was very important to collect donations for Chelmsford Foodbank.”
Annabelle Gardiner said: “We have collected over 300 items, making this our biggest collection to date! This is the second time Hannah and I have worked together to collect for Chelmsford Foodbank and it is something we are both passionate about. We wanted to do whatever we could to make someone’s life a little easier this Christmas.”
Roy Brackley, General manager of Chelmsford Foodbank said: “We want to say a big thank you to the staff at CHP and the people of Chelmsford for all of your donations this year. These donations will be distributed to our clients over the Christmas period and into the new year.”
