Sanctuary Supported Living’s (SSL) Torbay Domestic Abuse Service (TDAS) is calling for old handsets and new SIM cards to help people who have left everything to escape an abusive relationship.

The phones will enable clients to reconnect with friends, feel safer and access the internet once they start receiving support.

SSL local service manager Tina Cross said: “When somebody escapes an abusive relationship they often have to leave behind their personal belongings.

“Without a phone, they can feel cut off from the world and so if anyone has a handset they no longer use we’d ask them to consider donating it to help someone to get back on their feet.”

Phones should be restored to factory settings and can be donated to TDAS’ office in Woodview House, Torbay Business Park, Paignton, TQ4 7HP.
